Merit Megatouch LIVE Generation
History
The Megatouch LIVE generation was released in 2011. This generation featured an HD widescreen multitouch display, online updates, and software running on Windows 7 embedded instead of Linux.
This was the final generation before Merit games shut down in 2014. As such, this series never got to reach its full potential and contains fewer games and more bugs compared to ION machines with update 2014.
Software Releases
Megatouch LIVE featured an online subscription model where the machine would update itself without needing update dongles/CDs anymore. In practice this meant Merit would take a 10% cut from the earnings a cabinet made. This radical change did not sit well with a lot of operators.
At the time of Merit's closure, a final update was released to allowed the remaining machines to work offline. The machines that did not get this update in time are basically bricked until you buy an offline HDD from Ebay.
