Funworld Photo Play 2000 Generation
History
Released in 1996, the Photoplay 2000 series of machines were the first touchscreen based videogame arcades released by Funworld. Present in most of Europe and some parts of Asia, these machines were very popular, being normally installed in cafés, restaurants and bars.

Hardware Versions
These machines had two known hardware revisions: The original one and a later revision that was also installed as an upgrade kit as the original motherboards died. The original revision is based off a 486 computer, with 4 MB of RAM while the later versions already run Pentium-class CPUs.

Security
Funworld decided to protect these machines against piracy with two dongles or security keys. The first, a Dallas DS1982U-F5, of the Dallas iButton series of devices from Dallas Semiconductors, is a 1KB EPROM with a unique serial number that is installed on the IO Board (on the original hardware revision) or directly on the motherboard (on the later revision). The Dallas iButton does not need to be swapped for a newer one if the software is upgraded.
For the second, they used an external dongle that connects to the parallel port. Various versions exist of the latter as it would need to be replaced with each software update. The 1999 Rev. 2 Blue dongles have the Country with Flag and Revision information on a couple of stickers while on the others there is indication of the Month, Year, Country with Flag and Version of the game.
Some revisions of the later versions of these dongles (I.G.O 6 to I.G.O. 8) did not have a shell (just the PCB) and have an AT-keyboard connection that is needed to power the dongle. The parallel dongles are locked year-wise and region-wise, so you cannot use a Belgian 2001 dongle with a Portuguese 2001 hard disk, nor can you use a French 2001 dongle with any other hard disk than French 2001.
